Job summary

Park Place Seniors Living is seeking a Maintenance Worker for Crewydden Seniors Community in British Columbia. Under the direction of the Site Leader and Maintenance Supervisor, you will maintain the building and grounds, log checks, and perform routine and preventative maintenance by responding to work orders.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years of maintenance experience. WHMIS/OHS certifications are assets; equivalences may be considered.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with a minimum of 2 years maintenance-related experience.
  • Equivalences may be considered.
  • Must pass Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • WHMIS training and Occupational Health and Safety certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the building and grounds, execute checks, and log/document results.
  • Perform work orders and preventative maintenance using the Maintenance Care system.
  • Paint vacant suites and touch-ups in common areas.
  • Prioritize items needing repair and perform routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance.
  • Support the home’s fire safety program.
  • During winter, clear ice and snow from sidewalks, patios, and exits.

Job Title: Maintenance Worker

Location: Crewydden Seniors Community

FTE: 1.0

Hours of Work: 0800-1630

Under the direction of the Site Leader and the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall maintenance of the building and grounds. The responsibility of the position includes but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all required checks are executed, promptly logged and documented.
  • Maintaining the building in a safe and operable condition.
  • Maintaining the building envelope and overseeing the grounds.
  • Executing work orders, preventative maintenance using the Maintenance Care computer program.
  • Painting of vacant suites and touch‑ups in common areas.
  • Prioritizing items needing attention and repair.
  • Performing all routine, scheduled and emergency building maintenance.
  • Supporting the fire safety program for the home.
  • In the winter, ensuring sidewalks, patios and all exit areas are clear of ice and snow; shoveling/sanding and salting as required.
  • Available to work Monday to Friday or as scheduled by the Site Leader.
Qualifications & Experiences:
  • High School graduate.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience is preferred.
  • Equivalences may be considered.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Effective verbal and written English communication, organization and interpersonal skills is required.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of building and fire codes, as they pertain to continuing care homes.
  • Ability to work in teams collaboratively and communicate with others in a respectful manner.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret building drawings and codes is preferred.
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office.

  • WHMIS training and Occupational Health and Safety Certifications are assets.
