Job summary

PTFN Maintenance and Facilities in Peerless Lake, Alberta is seeking a Maintenance Worker for a full-time permanent role. You will perform maintenance and repairs for buildings, halls, grounds, rinks, and equipment, and establish preventative maintenance schedules after assessing needs.

You will drive to sites, coordinate with the Facilities Manager, and ensure safety regulations are met while delivering excellent customer service to clients and staff.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 plus related vocational training in building maintenance, carpentry or electrician.
  • Minimum of two years related experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional communication.
  • Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and TDG.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Team player with ability to work with contractors and customers.
  • Provide copy of driver’s license and driving record.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Worker

Full-Time Permanent Position
Peerless Lake, Alberta

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repairs for PTFN owned buildings, halls, grounds, rinks, and equipment in one or more areas such as electrical, plumbing, painting and grounds-keeping. This position establishes, monitors, and carries out preventative maintenance repairs and schedules for buildings, equipment and grounds after inspecting premises and assessing needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all buildings and equipment meet PTFN, safety, security, and fire regulations;
  • Regularly drive off-site to oversee grounds, halls, ice rinks, ball diamonds, projects, buildings and to pick up materials and supplies;
  • Make recommendations for major repairs and purchases based on thorough inspection and needs assessment;
  • Provide superior customer service and communication to all clients and maintains professional conduct while working inside and outside PTFN buildings;
  • Perform basic carpentry, electrical (replacing plugs), painting (repairing drywall), mechanical (appliance repairs) and plumbing maintenance (replacing sinks and toilets) and flooring repairs (linoleum, carpet);
  • Clean external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks and parking lots using manual and power brooms, rakes, shovels, snowblower, and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow and other refuse;
  • Collect and remove garbage and recyclable materials and ensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste;
  • Provide recommendations when work requires a journeyman level qualification to complete work in a legal and safe manner;
  • Provide regular status updates to the Facilities Manager so that maintenance logs are kept up to date;
  • Forward copies of all bills and invoices to the Facilities Manager for approval and submit to Finance;
  • Responsible for following PTFN policies regarding the hiring of external contractors and trades people for any major repairs and maintenance work and receive Facilities Manager’s approval.

You will have:

  • Grade 10, plus related vocational training such as courses in building maintenance/carpentry/electrician;
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience;
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, contractors, and customers in a professional manner;
  • Possess current certification in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and TDG;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • The ability to work well as a team member;
  • Must provide a copy of drivers’ license and current drivers abstract.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for and as requested review every 12 months;
  • Access to reliable transportation to meet the demands of the job.
