The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is a Crown corporation responsible for overseeing the Canadian federal interests in four international bridge crossings between Canada and the United States. Its mandate is to provide the highest level of stewardship so that the international bridges and associated structures are safe and efficient for users. FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Lansdowne (Thousand Islands) and Cornwall, Ontario.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for safely maintaining FBCL’s properties and assets, including bridges, buildings, utilities, roadways, fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and tools.

Maintenance Workers must be able to:
  1. Operate various elevated work platforms such as 125’ Genie and 50’ Bucket truck to access and work on various sections of the bridges;
  2. Climb tall structures safely and confidently to heights of up to 80 meters (260’);
  3. Clean surfaces for recoating and recoat;
  4. Power wash bridge surfaces and perform structural cleaning;
  5. Carry out civil and mechanical repairs/maintenance of the bridge components, such as brush blocks (curbs), potholes, expansion joints, bearings, and structural members;
  6. Perform snow cleaning and salting using plow trucks, tractors, loaders, and manually;
  7. Maintain fleet vehicles and heavy equipment;
  8. Maintain bridge visual aids such as lights, light standards, and signage.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma plus 3 years of experience in hands-on maintenance;
  2. Excellent initiative, troubleshooting skills, and problem-solving abilities;
  3. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools;
  4. Ability to read and follow drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and parts catalogs;
  5. Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machines;
  6. Strong communication, organizational, time management, and documentation skills;
  7. Ability to bend, stoop, and climb;
  8. Ability to work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and in confined spaces;
  9. Ability to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis;
  10. Possession of a valid G driver’s license;
  11. DZ license or ability to acquire DZ license within 4 months of hire;
  12. Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Security Clearance;
  13. Ability to demonstrate and maintain English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
