Job Summary :

ERCO Worldwide is seeking an Instrumentation Mechanic to join our Maintenance Union team at our Saskatoon plant! This will include maintenance of instrumentation systems, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), field process measurement devices (temperature elements, pH probes, control valves, pressure elements, level gauges, etc). Maintain instrument loop drawings. Conduct interlock checks. Specify and procure repair materials and equipment for new and modified installations.

This will be a unionized position.

Main Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Perform preventative instrument upkeep including calibrations and certifications on field and laboratory instrumentation
  • Conduct instrument troubleshooting and repairs on equipment as assigned
  • Specify, install and calibrate new instrumentation included in plant modification projects
  • Conduct safety interlock checks on a prescribed frequency; Identify new instrument opportunities for improved process control
  • Manage relevant Work Orders in the CMMS in support of PM compliance (timely closure, etc.). Updates maintenance files, drawings, documentation. Ordering and control of repair materials.
  • Procure and maintain critical instrumentation spares within a Mechanical Integrity (MI) program

Key Attributes :

  • Red Seal Journeyman Trade Certification
  • 3-5 years instrumentation experience if preferred
  • Familiarity with IEEE standards is an asset.
  • Ability to read ladder, logic, loop diagrams and other electrical fabrication drawings is required.
  • A background in heavy industry or the Chemical Process Industries is an asset
  • Effective written and oral skills
  • Superior troubleshooting skills a must
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills to work in a self-directed work group
  • Work experience to show the ability to be a reliable team member
  • Must pass pre-hire physical & drug screen
