DECIEM | THE ABNORMAL BEAUTY COMPANY is hiring a Maintenance Technician for our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke to perform daily maintenance and fixes to reduce stoppages in Filling and Compounding lines, and to execute preventive maintenance on site.

The role requires inspecting equipment, performing repairs, and documenting maintenance activities under supervision, with a strong emphasis on GMP and safety.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task with effective time management and communication.
• Willingness to learn concepts like welding, hoisting/rigging, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and examine machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Assist installation, alignment, dismantling, and moving equipment using hand/power tools.
• Report issues and keep maintenance reports up to date.
• Troubleshoot and maintain labeling, printers, chillers, and pumps.
• Perform routine maintenance: adjust, clean, lubricate, and replace parts.
• Work under supervision of trainers and senior team members.
• Assemble machinery before installation with tools.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and document actions; monitor equipment daily.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re hiring a Maintenance Technician to be responsible for daily maintenance and fixes to reduce stoppages in Filling and Compounding, as well as preventive maintenance. This is an on-site role based out of our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $27.00 to $29.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

• Responsible for inspecting and examining all machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
• Assist in installation, alignment, dismantling, and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, according to layout plans using hand and power tools
• Report machinery issues. Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports
• Troubleshoot and maintain labeling, printing, production chillers, and small pumps
• Perform routine maintenance such as adjustment, cleaning, lubricating, and repair or replacing defective parts of equipment
• Be able to work under the direction of qualified trainers and senior team members
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools
• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks and provide documentation as required. Proactively inspect equipment daily to identify early stages of breakdown to implement corrective action
• Notify the Senior Maintenance Manager/Head of Maintenance of any maintenance issues, seek guidance and support, but must be able to perform duties under minimal supervision
• Comply with all safety and health regulations (PPE, lockout procedures, etc.) and follow GMP

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

• Attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task with effective time management and communication skills
• Willingness to learn new concepts and skills (e.g., welding, hoisting/rigging, working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
• This is a physically demanding position and requires the ability to lift 25kg
• Relevant education OR equivalent work experience in the manufacturing industry an asset
