Job summary

DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company, is hiring a Maintenance Technician for the Afternoon Shift at our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke. This on-site role focuses on preventive maintenance and rapid fixes to reduce stoppages in filling and compounding lines.

The successful candidate will inspect machinery, assist with installation and movement of equipment, and maintain detailed maintenance reports. Opportunities to grow within a dynamic beauty manufacturing environment are available.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with effective time management and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn concepts such as welding, hoisting/rigging, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Physically demanding role with ability to lift 25 kg.
  • Relevant education OR equivalent work experience in manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and examine all machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Assist in installation, alignment, dismantling and moving machinery using hand and power tools.
  • Report machinery issues and keep detailed maintenance reports.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain labeling, printing, production chillers, and small pumps.
  • Perform routine maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, and replacing defective parts.
  • Work under supervision of qualified trainers and senior team members.
  • Assemble machinery prior to installation using hand and power tools.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks and daily inspections; document results.
  • Notify Senior Maintenance Manager of issues and seek guidance as needed.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re hiring a Maintenance Technicianto be responsible for daily maintenance and fixes to reduce stoppages in Filling and Compounding, as well as preventive maintenance.

This is an on-site role based out of our Eastside Manufacturing Facility in Etobicoke.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $27.00 to $29.00.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Responsible for inspecting and examining all machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Assist in installation, alignment, dismantling, and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Report machinery issues. Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports
  • Troubleshoot and maintain labeling, printing, production chillers, and small pumps
  • Perform routine maintenance such as adjustment, cleaning, lubricating, and repair or replacing defective parts of equipment
  • Be able to work under the direction of qualified trainers and senior team members
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks and provide documentation as required. Proactively inspect equipment daily to identify early stages of breakdown to implement corrective action
  • Notify the Senior Maintenance Manager/Head of Maintenance of any maintenance issues, seek guidance and support, but must be able to perform duties under minimal supervision
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations (PPE, lockout procedures, etc.) and follow GMP

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task with effective time management and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and skills (e.g., welding, hoisting/rigging, working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
  • This is a physically demanding position and requires the ability to lift 25kg
  • Relevant education OR equivalent work experience in the manufacturing industry an asset
