Job summary

CGC Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Welder for our quarry operation in Little Narrows, Nova Scotia.

This permanent, full-time role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and follows a day shift with potential evenings, weekends, and overtime to meet operational needs. You will perform maintenance on crushers, conveyors, pumps, and piping, install and upgrade machinery, and conduct routine checks while following preventative maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant maintenance/welding experience.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Red Seal certification preferred but not required.
• Safety-focused with good attendance and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and piping in a quarry setting.
• Install, assemble and upgrade machinery as production increases.
• Conduct routine checks and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Address mechanical failures to minimize downtime.

Job description

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting a Maintenance Technician - Welder - to join for our quarry operation in Little Narrows, Nova Scotia! This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. This is primarily a day shift schedule, however evening, weekend work and overtime may be required from time to time based on operational needs.

As a Maintenance Technician - Welder you will:

• Perform maintenance on plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, pumps, mobile equipment and piping in a quarry setting
• Work as part of a team to install, assemble and upgrade machinery as production increases
• Conduct routine checks, preventative maintenance and adjustments on various equipment
• Address mechanical failures to safely and effectively minimize equipment downtime
• Actively support company values and initiatives around diversity & inclusion, continuous improvement, training & development, etc.
• Understand that safety is not just a priority, it is what we do.

What you bring:

• Technical training with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience; Red Seal certification is preferred but not required
• Experience with Stick welding, Mig welding, Gouging, cutting torches, grinding and anything related to steel fabrication.
• Proven mechanical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience following preventative maintenance programs
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturer manuals to guide installation and repairs
• Experience in crushing / milling and ship loading procedures are nice to have but not required
• Ability to evaluate performance and leverage tools to retain, engage and develop team members
• A track record of great work performance, attendance, and safety behaviors.
