Interlake Acquisition Corporation dba Marcal Paper in St. Catharines, Ontario, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with a Millwright 433A license to join our 24/7 paper mill team.

You will troubleshoot, repair, install and perform preventative maintenance on facility and equipment, and collaborate with other trades to keep operations running smoothly. Candidates with welding skills and familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, conveyors, pumps and fabrication will excel.

Job Description

Working within a team-based maintenance department, your responsibilities will include effective troubleshooting, repair, installation and preventative maintenance of the facility and equipment, essential in the 24-hour operation of the Paper Mill. Employees will be trained in other skills such as machinists, pipefitters, and welding to be qualified as a Maintenance Technician and will be expected to assist other trades as required

Employees must have millwright license (433A) . Preference will be made for those that have welding skills.

Position Description/Skills

• Change a pump element, replace couplings, change out reducers/gearboxes
• Inspect and repair/replace conveyor pulleys, belts, chains, sheaves, and sprockets
• Willing to be trained in Paper Machine roll changes. Experience an asset.
• A general understanding of how to replace and repair hydraulic/pneumatic cylinders
• Fabrication work such as brackets
• Alignment and rigging
• Work closely with other maintenance team members to ensure the smooth running of the plant in a 24/7 continuous operation environment
• Oxy/Acetylene cutting and burning
• Welding capabilities and experience - an asset

Machinist Skills

• Lathe operation and drill press use – an asset
• Able to use calipers, micrometers (inside and out), dial indicators, etc.
• Read sketches and blueprints
• Milling machine operation – keyways – an asset
• Shop saw operation

Hours of work

This position is on Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. This position requires overtime and on-call availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required on a rotating basis.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body. This will include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, and stooping.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Manual dexterity is needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises associated with the mill.
