Job summary

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is seeking a responsible Maintenance Technician to support clinics and facilities in La Ronge and surrounding communities. You will perform daily operations, maintenance, and monitoring of building systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment.

Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, you will handle minor repairs, coordinate with contract trades, supervise other workers, and assist with seasonal tasks such as snow

Qualifications

  • Required Grade 12 and related maintenance experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor building systems and perform adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and components.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues.
  • Supervise other workers and coordinate with tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Maintain logs, checklists and maintenance records.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and landscaping coordination.

About the position:

The Maintenance Technician contributes to the health team by providing daily operations, maintenance and monitoring of building systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for all LLRIB Health Services clinics/facilities. The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor and will work with other team members.

  • Monitor LLRIB Health Services building systems in all five (5) communities in La Ronge, Hall Lake, Grandmothers, Bay, Little Red River, and Sucker River;
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contract tradespersons for major repairs;
  • Perform safety and security checks
  • Perform preventative, corrective maintenance and minor repairs, on building equipment and components;
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues;
  • Supervise other workers
  • Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair;
  • Work with minimal supervision;
  • Ensure building operations comply with building codes, regulations and safety standards;
  • Maintain clean and organize mechanical rooms and workspaces;
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, or landscaping coordination;
  • Maintain logs, checklists, and maintenance records;
Qualifications:

Required Grade 12, related Maintenance experience, valid driver’s license, basic mechanical ability, proficient in Microsoft applications, excellent communication skills, willing to consider experience and education together,

Strong organizational skills and able to manage time and priorities; Ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary team, Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset; and previous experience working with plumbing, carpentry or general maintenance, ability to speak/understand the Woodland Cree is an asset; Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel in different weather conditions.
