Job summary

Westbrook Greenhouses in Ontario seeks two Maintenance Technicians to perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and facility systems, ensuring operations stay in good order.

You will handle indoor carpentry, electrical tasks, and preventative maintenance, with duties including winter snow clearing and documentation of work orders. A safety‑conscious, team‑oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial greenhouse environment.
• Hydronic heating and irrigation systems experience is an asset.
• Valid Class G driver's license to travel between facilities as required.
• Fall Arrest/Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification or willingness to obtain.
• Forklift Operator license or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor indoor building repair and maintenance activities (i.e, basic carpentry, painting, drywalling, replacing doors/door hardware, etc.).
• Performs basic electrical maintenance (replacing light bulbs, installing switch plate covers, etc.).
• Clears snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
• Inspects building facilities to identify maintenance needs, reporting them to the Maintenance Manager as required.
• Participates in property safety and Preventative Maintenance programs to ensure a safe, hazard free working environment.
• Assists with office moves, equipment relocation, etc.
• Operates, maintains and repairs a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, pressure washers, power sweepers and various hand tools required for carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance skills.
• Ensures that all required documentation is completed in a timely, accurate manner including timesheets, preventative maintenance logs, work orders, etc.
• Coordinates with other maintenance team members, other departments and outside contractors as required.
• Maintains a tidy, clean and safe work area.
• Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act for Industrial Establishments and follow company safety rules, policies and procedures.
• Participates in meetings related to role.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Family owned and professionally managed, Westbrook Greenhouses is leading North American grower of indoor potted plants. We are currently looking for 2 Maintenance Technicians to

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years’ maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial greenhouse environment;
• Prior experience with hydronic heating systems, irrigation systems an asset;
• Valid Class G driver’s license to travel between company facilities as required;
• Valid Fall Arrest/Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification or willing to obtain;
• Valid Forklift Operator license or willing to obtain.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• High degree of mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues and safely operate power tools;
• Strong organization/time management skills with the ability to work independently;
• Flexible, positive attitude to take on a wide variety of tasks as required;
• Collaborative approach and willingness to share opinions and expertise to solve problems.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position works primarily indoors in a climate controlled environment with low to moderate noise levels; occasional outdoor work may be required;

• Ability to frequently walk and stand for extended periods;
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs;
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs with assistance;
• Ability to work at heights using a ladder or aerial lift equipment;
• Ability to frequently climb, kneel, stoop, crouch and/or crawl;
• Must be able to use and handle small tools such as screwdrivers, power drills, hammers, wrenches, etc.
