Job summary

Daniel Owen Ltd. is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Surveyor for a social housing provider in Surrey on a temporary ongoing contract. You will manage a portfolio of residential properties, oversee responsive repairs, voids and cyclical maintenance, and ensure works meet statutory and customer requirements.

You will have experience in surveying, contractor management, and knowledge of building legislation with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Immediate start available.

  • Strong knowledge of responsive repairs, voids and cyclical maintenance programmes.
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring performance.

Maintenance Surveyor - Social Housing

Location: Surrey

Temporary Ongoing Contract

Up to £42.00 per hour (Umbrella)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to join a well-established social housing provider based in Surrey on a temporary ongoing contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive surveyor with a strong background in responsive repairs, voids, and cyclical maintenance to work within a busy property services team.

This role offers a competitive rate of up to £42.00 per hour (Umbrella), with the opportunity for a long-term assignment for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Maintenance Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of residential properties across Surrey, ensuring repairs and maintenance works are delivered to a high standard while meeting statutory, contractual, and customer service requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out pre- and post-inspections for responsive repairs.
  • Surveying and specifying works for void properties to ensure they are re-let quickly and efficiently.
  • Managing cyclical maintenance programmes, including planned works and external decorations.
  • Preparing specifications and schedules of work.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, quality, cost, and compliance with service level agreements.
  • Managing works from inspection through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Diagnosing building defects and identifying appropriate repair solutions.
  • Ensuring all works comply with relevant legislation, health and safety regulations, and housing standards.
  • Liaising with tenants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to provide excellent customer service and resolve property-related issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports, and property data using housing management systems.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Maintenance Surveyor within social housing, local authority, or residential property maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive repairs, voids, and cyclical maintenance programmes.
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring performance.
  • Excellent knowledge of building construction, repair techniques, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage a busy and varied workload independently.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Relevant surveying or construction qualifications (HNC/HND, CIOB, RICS, or equivalent) are desirable.
