Job summary

The Forest Group is hiring a Maintenance Shop Technician to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safe, efficient work within set standards.

Ideal candidates have fleet maintenance experience with light and heavy vehicles, and relevant licenses or willingness to obtain them; English literacy is required, and training courses will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Ontario MV/G licenses required or preferred (310T preferred).
  • Experience with fleet maintenance of light and heavy vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Ensure work safety and efficiency per standards.
  • Install/repair vehicle accessories and safety equipment.
  • Manage parts stock and document work in Fleet Management System.
  • Possibly perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Attend training courses as required.

Maintenance Shop Technician

We are currently looking for a full timeMaintenance Shop Technicianto join our growing team!

Our ideal hire would have an in-depth understanding of construction machinery and vehicle maintenance.

As a Maintenance Shop Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and annual safety inspections as required
  • Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently within the time allotted and in accordance with legislated standards
  • Install and repair specialized vehicle accessories and safety equipment
  • Order and receive replacement or repair parts as directed and keep stock area in neat and tidy condition
  • Use hand tools to carry out maintenance and repair duties
  • Accurately complete forms, reports and input/retrieve information into Fleet Management System
  • May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Attend training courses as required

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Province of Ontario Motor Vehicle License 310T is strongly preferred
  • Must hold Ontario Vehicle Operator’s Permit Class “G” in good standing
  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must be able to complete various work forms and prepare simple written reports
  • Experience, preferably in Fleet Maintenance environment dealing with a variety of light and heavy vehicles and up to date on automotive electronics
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment, ie: scanners, digital meters, tire balancers, brake lathes, and AC filling and testing equipment
