Job summary

The Forest Group is seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Operator in the Greater Toronto Area. You will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of our asphalt production facility, ensuring quality and production targets are met.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating an asphalt plant or similar industrial facility.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of asphalt production and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Produce asphalt per mix designs, schedules, and quality specs.
  • Perform start-up/shutdown and daily inspections.
  • Maintain production records and coordinate material replenishment.
  • Collaborate with QC personnel to meet specifications.
  • Participate in safety meetings and maintain a safe plant environment.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our asphalt production facility while ensuring quality standards, production targets, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities
Plant Operations
  • Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production.
  • Produce asphalt in accordance with approved mix designs, production schedules, and quality specifications.
  • Perform plant start-up, shutdown, and daily operational inspections.
  • Monitor plant controls and adjust production processes to maintain efficiency and product quality.
  • Coordinate asphalt production to meet operational and customer demands.
  • Monitor raw material inventories and coordinate replenishment as required.
Maintenance & Quality Control
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and perform routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate production records, maintenance logs, and equipment documentation.
  • Work closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure asphalt products meet required specifications.
  • Assist in maintaining plant equipment and facilities to maximize operational reliability.
Safety & Teamwork
  • Work collaboratively with Dispatch, truck drivers, paving crews, maintenance personnel, and management to support daily operations.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company health and safety policies, environmental requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant environment.
  • Identify and report potential hazards, equipment concerns, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and ongoing training initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating an asphalt plant or a similar industrial processing facility.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of asphalt production processes and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and plant equipment operation is considered an asset.
  • Heavy equipment operating experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
