Job Description

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: The Planner is responsible for implementing and tracking the progress of the predictive and preventative maintenance program across all mine areas. The Planner ensures an 80/20 split between planned and unplanned work, with measurable data presentation. They analyze maintenance data to plan future maintenance effectively, maintain proper MSHA documentation, and prepare plans, schedules, and forecasts for various crews.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Maintain a safety-first mindset.
  2. Continuously monitor and implement standard best practices.
  3. Implement and measure planning processes for:
  • Routine inspections and repairs
  • Major component tracking
  • Equipment backlog management
  • Major maintenance work or shutdowns
  • Equipment overhaul and replacements
  • Apply preventative and predictive maintenance philosophies.
  • Possess superior planning, scheduling, and forecasting skills.
  • Understand OEM service standards and intervals.
  • Schedule work orders for unplanned maintenance.
  • Organize disciplined planned maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate within the department to achieve 80% planned work.
  • Develop measurable, time-bound work and action plans.
  • Prioritize all planned and unplanned work accurately.
  • Maintain a competent equipment register considering the equipment lifecycle.
  • Communicate with rebuild sites and coordinators regarding progress, shipping, receiving, and interval modifications.
  • Maintain communication with vendor support and maintenance leadership.
  • Experience and skills in cost per ton planning and budgeting are preferred.
  • Drive costs down per ton diligently.
  • Participate in review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Enforce and monitor SOP and STP procedures.
  • Advise employees on planned maintenance and equipment questions.
  • Develop and train future planners.
  • Organize crews and distribute talent across shifts and outages.
  • Work with procurement, logistics, and operations to align goals.
  • Ensure parts availability for planned projects.
  • Implement new technology to improve performance.
  • Utilize SAP to automate and streamline workflows.
  • Communicate operational status with management.
  • Maintain a mentality of extreme ownership.
  • Maintain industry-leading availability, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • High school diploma or GED minimum.
    • At least five years of maintenance supervision or equivalent experience.
    • Knowledge of basic accounting and cost control procedures.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Self-directed with a strong safety record.
