Job summary

Wonderbrands in Sudbury, ON is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our maintenance team on a Continental shift. You will read blueprints, install and maintain power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and work with PLCs to keep bakery equipment running smoothly.

With a Red Seal Millwright 433A and 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience, you will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support continuous improvement while ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Red Seal Millwright license (433A).
• 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience, preferred in food/bakery.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Comfortable with computers and basic software.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and PLCs.
• Inspect machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Operate lathes and milling machines to fabricate parts for overhaul and maintenance.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation with hand tools and welding.
• Troubleshoot/repair/install processing equipment with electrical knowledge for efficient repair.
• Improve equipment safety, efficiency and reliability through PMs and continuous improvement.
• Comply with safety and food safety policies and procedures.
• Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance on production/bakery equipment.
• Support design improvements to enhance equipment function.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area at all times.

In a typical day you will:

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures


• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls


• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions


• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts


• Operate machine tools such as lathes and mill machines to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery


• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.


• Troubleshooting/repairs/installations of processing equipment with a working knowledge of electrical to allow efficient repair/replacement results


• Extensive mechanical knowledge including power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics


• Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules


• Comply with all applicable legislative and Bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.


• Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all production and bakery equipment


• Continually improve equipment function via design improvements


• Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work


• Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards


• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Skills & Other Requirements:

• Valid Red Seal Millwright License - Industrial Millwright 433A


• 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry.


• Proven track record working with mechanics, machine shop practices, pneumatic & hydraulic fields is required.


• Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required.


• Comfortable using computers


• Ability to work well within a team and independently


• Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs


• You really enjoy working in a fast paced environment where every day can bring new and unique challenges


• Ability to work a flexible shift day/afternoon/night, Sunday to Saturday, and holidays.
