Job summary

Wonderbrands is seeking a Maintenance Helper to support daily plant operations at our Calgary facility. You will assist Millwrights and Electricians with repair, routine maintenance, and equipment servicing, while helping manage parts inventory and 5S-compliant housekeeping.

The role emphasizes safety, quality observations, and following established work orders to ensure reliable bakery operations and organized storerooms. A strong work ethic and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• 3–5 years of experience in food/manufacturing preferred.
• Experience in maintenance, industrial, warehouse, storeroom or mechanical environments is a plus.
• Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced plant.

Responsibilities

• Assist Millwrights and Electricians with repair, maintenance, installation and servicing of industrial bakery equipment.
• Assist with preventive and routine maintenance activities as directed by the Maintenance team.
• Follow instructions and work orders when completing tasks.
• Conduct safety and quality observations and create work requests for issues.
• Assist with disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling equipment.
• Ensure all work follows Health & Safety legislative and GMP standards.
• Assist with storekeeping: receiving, stocking and maintaining inventory.
• Monitor stock levels and flag low or critical spare parts to prevent downtime.
• Maintain orderly maintenance storeroom in line with 5S standards.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Maintenance Helper supports the Maintenance team with routine equipment maintenance, parts and inventory management, and general upkeep to help ensure reliable and efficient plant operations.

Location:203 58 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2H 0N9Wage: $27.80/hourShift: Day shift

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Support:

• Assist Millwrights and Electricians with the repair, maintenance, installation, and servicing of industrial machinery and bakery equipment.
• Assist with preventive and routine maintenance activities as directed by the Maintenance team.
• Follow instructions and pre-established work order guidelines when completing assigned maintenance tasks.
• Conduct Safety and Quality observations and create work requests to track identified issues.
• Assist with disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling bakery equipment.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, Company Joint Health & Safety Programs, and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Maintenance Stores & Inventory:

• Assist with storekeeping duties, including receiving, organizing, stocking, and maintaining accurate inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
• Monitor stock levels and proactively flag low or critical spare parts to the Maintenance Supervisor to help prevent equipment downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of parts and supplies issued and received.
• Pull inventory and prepare parts/materials for maintenance work orders and planned maintenance activities.
• Assist with kitting, cycle counting, stocking, and locating inventory within the Maintenance storeroom.
• Ensure the Maintenance storeroom remains organized, clean, audit-ready, and aligned with 5S standards.
• Use the appropriate procedures when removing or locating inventory from Maintenance stores.

Housekeeping & 5S:

• Ensure all parts, tools, and materials are returned to their designated locations after use.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops, storerooms, satellite shops, and other assigned areas.
• Support 5S activities within Maintenance and Stores areas.
• Sweep floors and maintain an organized and safe working environment within the maintenance/satellite shop.
• Organize and maintain equipment manuals and other maintenance documentation.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• 3-5 years of experience working in a food-related or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Previous experience in a maintenance, industrial, warehouse, storeroom, or mechanical environment would be an asset.
• Basic understanding of maintenance tools, parts, and equipment.
• Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle maintenance parts, tools, and supplies as required.
