Your Role at KIK

As a Maintenance Mechanic, your primary focus will be to perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including safety inspections, diagnosis, repair, and ordering parts. You will also need to provide quick and innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns with a customer-oriented manner.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and facilities in processing & packaging departments.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick, innovative solutions for breakdowns using principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Operate machine shop tools such as mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and saws.
  • Setup, takedown, and relocate Process and Packaging equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including process instrumentation / control systems, 120-480 volt systems, variable speed drives, and PLCs (primarily Allen Bradley, some Siemens).
  • Identify and repair equipment issues independently within assigned areas, with minimal supervision, including ordering parts and planning / scheduling work.

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum 4 years of mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry up to 45 lbs., and perform repetitive motions, sitting, standing, and bending.
  • Comfort working in non-temperature and temperature-controlled environments.
  • Willingness to wear a full-face respirator as necessary.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software is an asset.
  • Attention to detail with a customer service attitude.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
