Diesel Truck Technician / Mechanic II (3rd-5th Year Apprentice Program)

Location: 2323 Stevenage Dr, Ottawa, ON K1G 3W1

Shift Premiums: 2nd Shift ($3), 3rd Shift ($4), Weekend ($3)

Sign On Bonus: $2,500

A Penske Technician II assists in the overhaul of major components or removes/replaces major components under supervision. You should be able to diagnose and repair systems such as clutches, PTO, electric, hydraulic/air brake, heating/air conditioning, instruments, gauges, and perform preventative maintenance.

Major Responsibilities
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing engines, power train, electrical, HVAC, steering, electronics, brake, suspension systems, and more.
  • Perform mechanical reconditioning and prepare equipment for trade-ins or delivery.
  • Identify parts needed for repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and document repairs.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in the work area.
  • Road test vehicles and inspect for malfunctions.
  • Use hand and power tools for repairs and diagnostics.
  • Specialize in major component repairs such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of practical tractor trailer maintenance experience.
  • Currently enrolled in an apprentice program.
  • Membership or registration with relevant government agencies.
  • Preferably with 310S license or automotive background.
  • Training in vehicle component repair is a plus.
  • Proficiency with shop tools.
  • Valid driver's license (Class G or 5), with ability to obtain Class DZ within 6 months.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry.
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Regular attendance and willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements

Must regularly lift/move up to 12kg, frequently up to 23kg, and occasionally up to 45kg. Must have good vision and be able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands frequently. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
