Job description

Location: 715032 Oxford Rd 4 Woodstock ON N4S 7V9

Shift: Monday to Thursday 2:00pm-12:30pm

Shift Premium: 2nd Shift ($3), 3rd Shift ($4), Weekend ($3)

Position Summary: This diesel technician/mechanic position at Penske is focused on providing top service to our customers who have roadside assistance needs. The role involves diagnosing and repairing various maintenance issues on trucks in all weather conditions, ensuring safety on the roadside. Qualified candidates will have prior experience in tractor trailer repair and proficiency with repair tools. Willingness to drive a Penske Road Assist vehicle equipped with tools and supplies is required.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Respond promptly to road assist calls, diagnosing and repairing units by identifying parts needing replacement and warrantable repairs, with proper documentation.
  2. Perform diagnostics and repairs that can be completed quickly outside of road calls.
  3. Restock the rapid assist vehicle with tools, parts, tires, or other necessary items.
  4. Perform maintenance or repairs on the road assist vehicle as needed.
  5. Assist with in-shop repairs when not on road calls, as directed by the supervisor.
  6. Complete other projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 310T Certification required.
  • Specialized training in vehicle component repair and replacement preferred.
  • Proficiency with shop tools.
  • Driver’s license class G required; class DZ preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems preferred.
  • Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential.
  • Willingness to travel within the district as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg), frequently up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Must frequently stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands for handling and reaching.
