Diesel Truck Technician/Mechanic II (3rd-5th Year Apprentice Program)

Location: 1815 Ironstone Dr, Burlington ON L7L 5T8

Shift: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Shift Premium: 2nd Shift ($3), 3rd Shift ($4), Weekend ($3)

A Penske Technician II assists in overhauling major components or removing/replacing parts under supervision. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing systems such as clutches, PTO, electrical, hydraulic/air brakes, HVAC, gauges, and performing preventative maintenance.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair engines, powertrain, electrical, HVAC, steering, electronics, brakes, suspension, and major components
  • Perform mechanical reconditioning and prepare equipment for trade-in or delivery
  • Identify parts needed for repairs
  • Conduct preventive maintenance
  • Document warrantable repairs
  • Maintain safety and work area appearance
  • Road test vehicles for diagnostics and performance
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Inspect critical systems and components
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Adjust and reassemble equipment
  • Lift heavy parts using hydraulic equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctions with test instruments
  • Ensure safety guards and systems are functional
  • Verify dimensions and specifications
  • Specialize in major component repairs including engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of practical tractor trailer maintenance experience
  • Enrolled in an apprentice program
  • Membership/registration with relevant government agencies
  • Will consider candidates with 310S license or automotive background
  • Training in vehicle component repair preferred
  • Proficiency with shop tools
  • Valid driver’s license (G or 5), with ability to obtain DZ license within 6 months
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance data entry
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to travel within district and work scheduled hours
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift/move up to 12kg regularly, up to 23kg frequently, and up to 45kg occasionally
  • Vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach frequently
