Job summary

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our Ottawa, Ontario site to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and mechanical systems for a National Museum project. The role includes shift tours, startup/shutdown of equipment, water treatment duties, and testing of life safety systems.

Candidates should have extensive HVAC/mechanical experience or Ontario trade qualifications and must be able to obtain a Reliability clearance.

Qualifications

• HVAC and mechanical systems experience, or Ontario trade qualifications or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Reliability clearance (Canadian citizen or permanent resident for 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Perform shift tours and log readings.
• Start up / shut down major building equipment.
• Conduct water treatment duties.
• Test diesel, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks per CMMS directives.
• Respond to trouble calls and supervise repairs as needed.
• Report day-to-day operations to the Project Manager.

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our location in Ottawa, Ontario. The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various mechanical and plumbing devices and systems to achieve optimum life span of equipment in a National Museum.

DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES

• Perform shift tours and log readings
• Start up / shut down major building equipment
• All water treatment duties
• Diesel, fire alarm, life safety tests
• Perform minor repairs
• Major fan and AHU maintenance and alignment
• Minor chiller and heat pump servicing and troubleshooting
• Compressor maintenance
• All mechanical maintenance duties such as filter and belt changing
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as requested by the CMMS system
• Respond to the Client’s “trouble call system” as necessary and carry out appropriate repairs
• Verify the quality of work completed by various subcontractors
• Report to the Project Manager on the day-to-day operations of this function of the contract

SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive experience with HVAC and mechanical systems and/or an Ontario trade of Qualifications or equivalent.

Due to contractual requirements, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Reliability clearance (must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of 5 years).

This position’s wage rate follows the 787 Union Agreement schedule.
