Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic will inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace or rebuild pumps, replace fan bearings, replace motors, repair screw conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot and diagnose various machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, belts and fans utilizing handtools and testing instruments.
  • Inspect completed repairs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Perform all work with strict adherence to all applicable safety legislation and procedures.
  • Estimate time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects.
  • Requisition supplies and materials as required and approved by management.
  • Work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manuals or verbal instructions and install equipment to diagram specifications.
  • Complete work orders as required and ensure appropriate follow-up communication.
  • Disassemble machines and repair / replace / adjust parts accordingly.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, parts and machinery.
  • Maintain equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage and track work orders, ensuring timely follow-up and comprehensive reporting.
  • Assist co-workers with questions or issues regarding task completion.
  • Take rotating, on-call, back shifts, and holidays.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience :

  • High school or GED diploma.
  • 3-5 years of millwright experience.
  • 1-3 years of Welding Experience (Arc, Mig, Tig).
  • 1-3 years of CMMS experience.
  • 1-3 years of heavy industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with turbines, crane grapples, and other equipment in the waste-to-energy industry is a plus.
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification.
  • Welding and / or pipefitting trade certificate (Highly Recommended).
  • Training in mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps and valves, pneumatics, electronics, and control systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English (for operational, safety, and process instructions).
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in PPE usage and safety protocols.
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with equipment such as pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, and blowers.
  • Skill in using precision measuring devices, testing equipment, and shop tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues.
  • Ability to estimate project time and costs.
  • Steel fabrication and welding skills may be required.
  • Ability to operate CMMS software.
  • Teamwork skills and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

Full-time, Monday to Friday. Work involves outside and inside tasks, often in extreme weather, with physical exertion, heavy lifting, and operation of loud tools and equipment.

Salary : $61.16 / hour
