Job summary

Our client, a large food processing company in Mississauga, is hiring a Maintenance Helper to support a growing facility. You will assist with start-up and operation of packaging equipment, routine monitoring, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities include repairing production machines, reading manuals, maintaining safety standards, and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor. This is a full-time position with potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food industry is asset.
  • Able to read equipment manuals and work orders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).

Job Description

Our Client, a large food processing company located in Mississauga is seeking a Maintenance Helper for their Growing Facility!

  • Start-up, operation (packaging machines), routine monitoring and inspection, and shut-down of process equipment at end of shift.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor as required.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment.
  • Ability to retain information, learner attitude and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Working knowledge in the use of hand tools.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of conveyors and conveyor components.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Track and maintain electronic records on all maintenance and repairs to machines and facility.
  • Set working hours for department and obtain approval through Plant Manager.
  • Assist with line production when required.
  • Maintain plant housekeeping.
  • Makes sure the team adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Experience in food industry is asset, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, etc. People Related
  • Must be able to work with seafood and some meat products!
