Factor_ in Calgary, AB is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to plan and coordinate maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across building and production systems.

The role includes preventive maintenance, calibration and coordinating with contractors, plus training for junior staff and maintaining logs. A Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical diploma and 2+ years in facilities maintenance are required, with food manufacturing exposure preferred.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of facilities maintenance experience and at least one year in a food processing/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience standing for prolonged periods and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all production equipment and automation meet safety, food safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform preventive/predictive maintenance using plans and manuals.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems; prioritize and oversee maintenance work.
  • Maintain distribution center racking, dock doors and material handling equipment.
  • Manage tasks/work-orders on CMMS/Sheets and document updates.
  • Train new hires and oversee Maintenance Associates on complex tasks.
  • Coordinate with external contractors to define maintenance requirements and spares.
  • Support upgrades, replacements, overhauls and installation projects.

Location: 4951 ,110 Ave SE, Calgary ,AB T2C 5X5

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday AM-Shift (7:30am to 4pm) or PM-Shift (3pm to 11:30pm)

About The Role

Reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician II is accountable for planning and coordinating maintenance activities and troubleshooting, maintaining and ensuring that all building and production equipment and systems are operating safely, effectively and in compliance pursuant to safety regulations and company operating standards.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Ensure all production equipment and automation meeting safety, food safety, and other applicable regulatory standards;
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform as needed, daily, weekly, and monthly preventive and/or predictive maintenance checklists, upkeep and calibrate general building (including racking, dock doors, waste management) and production equipment (conveyors, automation, case sealers, material handling equipment), leveraging relevant job plans, procedures, and manuals;
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and other maintenance related problems; Assign criticality, prioritize maintenance jobs, and define and oversee work required
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of distribution center racking, walkies, power trucks, dock doors and perform repairs in the facility for a clean and steady operation
  • Manage tasks/work-orders on computer systems such as CMMS/GSheets
  • Train new hires according to the training plan for machine operation; Train and oversee Maintenance Associates on complex tasks as required
  • Conduct machine calibration and run-to-failure maintenance activities
  • Perform regular facility inspections to ensure fire extinguishers, exits, emergency lighting and other safety features meet and/or exceed regulatory requirements; perform repairs as required
  • Coordinate with external contractors to define maintenance and reliability requirements, troubleshoot equipment, purchase and stock spares
  • Support upgrades, replacements, overhaul and installation projects
  • Maintain Department inventory, including Spare parts, Tools, Hardware and keeping records documented
  • Update maintenance logs and ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations
  • Use personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer
  • Other duties as assigned
At a Minimum, You Have
  • Post-secondary Education in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of Facilities Maintenance experience and at least one year experience in a food processing or service environment/manufacturing industry.
  • Has experience standing for prolonged periods of time including regular bending, twisting and walking
  • Willing and able to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Skilled in using basic hand tools, power tools and measuring tools
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts and holiday work, as required
  • Willing and able to work in a refrigerated environment (0°C to 4°C)
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Calendar,Gmail,Docs,Sheets) and video conferencing (Hangouts, Google Meet)
