Randstad Canada is seeking a safety-conscious Journeyman Maintenance Electrician in Airdrie, AB to keep automated production systems running reliably. You will own plant automation, troubleshoot complex systems, and work with a high-performing maintenance crew in a climate-controlled facility.

Formación

• Mandatory trade license with Alberta Journeyman certificate or Red Seal.
• Experience diagnosing and servicing PLCs, VFDs, sensors and control systems.
• Experience in food processing GMP/HACCP environments is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Identify, repair, and maintain automated production equipment and controls.
• Collaborate with Millwrights to resolve multi-system outages quickly.
• Support preventive maintenance on conveyors, gearboxes and lines.
• Perform electrical inspections, calibrations, and parts replacements.
• Enforce safety standards including LOTO, WHMIS and GMP requirements.
• Analyze failures and implement long-term fixes.

We are seeking a safety-conscious Red Seal / Journeyman Maintenance Electrician to keep automated production systems running at peak reliability. Working in a modern, climate-controlled environment, you will take ownership of plant automation, machinery uptime, and complex diagnostic troubleshooting alongside a high-performing maintenance crew.

Responsibilities

• Electrical Diagnostics: Identify, repair, and maintain automated equipment controls, motor systems, VFDs, sensors, and distribution circuits.
• Cross-Trade Partnership: Collaborate closely with mechanical Millwrights to quickly resolve multi-system operational outages.
• Basic Mechanical Support: Assist with routine mechanical service, equipment adjustments, and preventive upkeep on conveyors, gearboxes, and pneumatic lines.
• Preventive Servicing: Complete scheduled electrical inspections, calibrations, and parts replacements to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Safety & Quality Standards: Enforce rigorous site safety procedures, including strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), WHMIS, and food-grade GMP standards.
• Root-Cause Problem Solving: Evaluate recurring system failures to develop and implement long-term technical fixes.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Trade License: Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrical Certificate or recognized Interprovincial Red Seal status.
• Automation & Controls: Demonstrated proficiency in programming, diagnosing, and servicing PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, and industrial control systems.
• Industry Background: Direct experience working within a food processing plant following GMP, HACCP, or SQF sanitary guidelines.
• Technical & Digital Skills: Solid mechanical comprehension, systematic diagnostic capabilities, and comfortable using basic office software (Excel, PowerPoint, email).
• Professional Attributes: Self-motivated and reliable with strong organizational abilities, clear communication skills, and calm composure under high-pressure plant conditions.
• Shift Availability: Ability to work either a 5x8 Monday-Friday Afternoon shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) or Midnight shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
