Biidaaban Healing Lodge is seeking a Maintenance Worker to care for a 12-unit residential treatment facility on Biigtigong Nishnaabeg land, near Marathon, Ontario. The role involves hands-on building, grounds, and equipment upkeep, including UV water system maintenance and routine inspections.

Ideal candidates will have a maintenance-related degree, a valid G license, and prior maintenance experience. Ability to work independently or in a team, with strong communication and basic computer skills

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in a maintenance related field (combinations of education and work experience considered).
  • Valid G class license.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance-related position.
  • Experience with or certification in ultraviolet water systems a plus.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or in healing settings a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication; basic computer skills ( WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK ).

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment.
  • Maintain Ultraviolet water maintenance system.
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Do minor carpentry, plumbing, painting and maintenance work.
  • Schedule and coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors.
  • Diagnose and report building and repair issues.

Job description

Maintenance Worker

The Biidaaban Healing Lodge is a 12-unit residential treatment program located on the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg formerly Pic River First Nation, which is approximately 25 kilometers from Marathon, ON. We are mandated to provide quality treatment to all Indigenous and Metis people residing in the Robinson Superior Treaty area. We provide treatment for unresolved trauma stemming from sexual abuse, family violence, adult children of trauma, grief and abandonment and anger solutions.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Repair and Maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment

  • Maintain Ultraviolet Water Maintenance system

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.

  • Performing preventative maintenance.

  • Preform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting and maintenance work

  • Scheduling and coordinating repairs and maintenance with contracted individuals

  • Diagnosing and reporting building and repair issues

Qualifications:


  • A college or university degree in Maintenance related field (Combinations of education and work experience will be considered.)

  • A valid G class License

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance related position

  • Experience with or certification with Ultraviolet water systems would be an asset.

  • Experience working with First Nation’s individuals, families and communities, and a working knowledge of healing and recovery from a Native perspective.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication skills, a working knowledge of computer programs such as word, excel, outlook.


Salary: Wages will be negotiated commensurate with experience
