Job summary

The Nunavik Housing Bureau (NHB) is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs on housing units, including carpentry, heating, plumbing and electrical tasks. You will implement preventive maintenance and participate in after-hours emergency callbacks, under foreman supervision.

Two years of maintenance experience in at least two trades and a Northern Maintenance diploma or equivalent are required; bilingual ability (Inuktitut, French or English) is preferred, with a valid driver’s

Job description

Status: Permanent / Full time (40 hours/week)

FUNCTION & RESPONSABILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Foreman; you will be required to make repairs to our housing units. More specifically you will be given work orders to complete in carpentry, heating, plumbing and electrical repair. You will be responsible for applying a preventive maintenance plan for the housing units. You will be a part of a callback system to answer to emergencies in the evenings and on the weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Northern Maintenance diploma or pertinent experience in replacement of diploma
• Two (2) years of experience at least 2 maintenance’s fields: carpentry, electricity, heating or plumber

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in two of the three languages of the region (Inuktitut, French or English)
• Valid driver’s license required or the obligation to take a driver’s course when one is offered

SALARY / BENEFITS

NHB offers a competitive salary, northern benefits, and attractive working conditions. The salary for this position ranges from $29.12 to $34.76 per hour, depending on the evaluation of related experience.
