Job description

Role Description

Understand the design and structure of Db2 Database on Mainframes, including underlying objects like Database, tablespaces, tables, indexes, and stored procedures. Compare these with Oracle DB for migration and replication purposes. Have experience in database migration projects using various tools or ETL processes. Create databases, tables, indexes, backup/recovery strategies, address compatibility issues, tune application query performance, and develop/enhance database maintenance and utility jobs. Collaborate on projects with experienced DB2 z/OS and technology DBAs, partner with system programmers on upgrades, ensure optimal database design to meet SLAs, maximize reuse, and minimize operational costs. Ensure all changes are properly tested and implemented without impacting RBC systems and clients. Provide technical support related to databases.

Essential Skills

• Strong technical knowledge of relational database management technologies on z/OS.
• Experience supporting critical migration projects involving databases like Oracle.
• Proficiency with data manipulation and definition languages, physical database design, and performance tuning.
• Experience with DB2 z/OS and related migration tools, including loading/unloading tables and recovery/restoration processes.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to interact across various levels and areas.

Desirable Skills

• Experience supporting applications using Siebel on Db2 and knowledge of other databases like Oracle.

• Familiarity with REXX/CLIST programming and replication processes.
