Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada in Longueuil, QC is seeking a skilled technician to support automated manufacturing lines for aircraft engine components. You will work with CNC machines, perform measurements, and help maintain production cadence to meet on-time delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

What Will Your Daily Routine Look Like?
Main Functions:

Work Environment

  • We mainly produce turbines and compressors for the GTF engine program, notably used for the Airbus A320neo & A220 as well as the Embraer E2.
  • Highly automated manufacturing line, combining advanced robotics and closed-door machining technologies, unique in the world.
  • Collaborate within a qualified and passionate team, ready to share their knowledge and work closely together to improve the work environment.

Production Plan

  • Ensure optimal production of equipment, machines, and tools.
  • Analyze work, identify production requirements, and detect in advance special requirements regarding difficulties.
  • Diagnose production indicators, statistical data, and perform operating cycles to simultaneously operate multiple machines or internal/external processes in the advanced manufacturing centre.
  • Maintain and optimally control production flow and parts inventory.
  • Perform necessary adjustments, settings, and alignments of tools, equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Take required actions to maintain production cadence to respect on-time delivery to customers.

Maintenance Plan

  • Perform first-level diagnostics to identify the source of problems, intervene, and/or coordinate interventions by various support groups. Apply knowledge of equipment and robotics/networking as a first responder.
  • Apply the maintenance plan for equipment/processes, perform autonomous maintenance routines as well as any kind of minor maintenance work such as maintaining fluid/media/acid levels; checking, cleaning, and lubricating parts and gauges; minor repair of machinery, tooling, and mechanical equipment, and act as support during interventions.
  • Use various computer systems and technologies such as machine and automated line interfaces, dashboards, ESS systems, tooling, maintenance, and consumable management systems, and/or any other computer systems necessary for the proper operation of the advanced manufacturing centre.

Global Quality Plan

  • Validate compliance with the quality plan by performing dimensional and visual checks on parts and tools according to the sampling plan.
  • Analyze indicators proactively. Investigate causes of repetitive problems. Recommend, direct, implement, and follow up on preventive or corrective actions as well as work techniques and methods.
  • Use mechanisms such as "ANDON" to signal events that hinder work progress according to standards.
  • Apply calibration routines and ensure tooling integrity by keeping appropriate records up to date.
  • Document all requirements related to the global quality plan.
  • Initiate and lead quality clinics to meet overall yield rates.
  • Validate that parts meet all requested standards and specifications.
Related Functions

May be called upon to perform various tasks or operations such as ATTI verification, shot peening, sandblasting, polishing, cleaning by various chemical and mechanical processes, simple deburring, masking and unmasking of parts and/or various items, etc. to ensure the continuous flow of materials. In addition, tasks external to the AMC are performed, such as balancing, inspection, and packaging.

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Machining Techniques
  • Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS) in Machining on Computer Numerically Controlled Machine Tools
  • Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Ability to work in a team
  • This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, however, it requires a basic knowledge of English to understand certain specialised work instructions, drawings, and technical terms that may emanate from international organisations.
