Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking a Production Supervisor for the MED Shop in Longueuil. You will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of a 55+ person department focused on experimental development manufacturing, prototyping, and production part repairs.

You will lead a diverse team, implement continuous improvement projects, and ensure safety, quality, and on‑time delivery while coordinating with engineering, programming, logistics, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• DEC or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
• Minimum 3+ years of supervisory experience
• Proficiency in French (fluent) and English (functional)
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts (5S, Gemba walks)
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP software such as SAP and ITDM is an asset
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Experience in an aerospace/manufacturing environment is a plus

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations in the MED Shop for multiple aeronautical part families
• Promote health, safety, and quality practices and KPIs across the team
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage staffing and training
• Coordinate with manufacturing engineering, programming, logistics, and maintenance teams
• Hire and coach staff; develop supervisors and team leads
• Monitor productivity, costs, delivery, and quality targets and implement corrective actions
• Lead change management and foster employee engagement

As Production Supervisor – MED Shop, you will report directly to the Senior Manager of the MED & Tooling Services sector which is part of the Longueuil Manufacturing Centre (LMC).

The MED Shop is an experimental development manufacturing center. The department comprises a team of over 55 machinists, sheet metal workers, welders, deburrers, and inspectors. It operates within an aerospace manufacturing environment focused on the development and introduction of technological innovations. Whether for prototype manufacturing, the repair of production parts, or technological development, our staff possesses the skills to meet tight deadlines while ensuring the quality standards required by our customers.

Your main objective will be to oversee the day-to-day operations as well as manage the department's employees. You will also be required to actively participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and projects by encouraging the participation of employees. The mandates associated with the position are varied, enriching and related to various engine programs.

The position is full-time from Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Longueuil and is exclusively on site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Supervise daily operations related to the manufacturing of multiple families of aeronautical parts;


• Address the prevention of health and safety incidents by actively promoting good practices and appropriate behaviours;


• Ensure the achievement of key performance indicators (EHS, quality, delivery, performance, costs) and apply appropriate measures and solutions;


• Communicate with production teams and support functions such as manufacturing engineering, programming, logistics, maintenance, project management, etc.;


• Hire, monitor training of employees and support team leaders;


• Actively participate in initiatives aimed at reducing non-quality and increasing efficiency;


• Facilitate change management and promote employee engagement.

What do you need to be successful?

• College diploma (DEC) or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, including a minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience;


• French (fluent), English (functional);


• Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts (5S, Lean Manufacturing, tier meetings, Gemba walks, visual management, etc.);


• Knowledge of manufacturing, programming, and machining methods;


• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams);


• Comfortable working in an environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines;


• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;


• Ability to understand various production challenges and anticipate potential issues;


• Team player with strong autonomy and ethical judgment;


• Knowledge of logistics, planning tools, and production monitoring is an asset;


• Good knowledge of ERP/MRP software such as SAP and ITDM is an asset;


• Knowledge of quality criteria and inspection processes is an asset.

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, however it requires a working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with international customers, suppliers or colleagues.
