Job summary

Ascension Automation Solutions Ltd. in Canada is seeking a skilled Machine Tool Builder/Millwright to operate a variety of machines and tools to complete projects.

You will maintain and repair equipment, read complex drawings, and work independently or in a team while adhering to health and safety precautions. A strong candidate will possess a Millwright qualification, 3+ years in automation, welding experience (MIG/TIG/Stick), and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid Certificate of Qualification for a Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, or Machine Tool Builder or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a custom automation environment.
  • MIG, TIG, and Stick welding experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Experience operating general-purpose machine shop equipment.
  • Team-oriented with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, align, plumb, and integrate workstations or systems including pneumatics/hydraulics, and conveyors.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
  • Identify components and create sub-assemblies for work cells and automated equipment.
  • Operate and inspect hand-held tools and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain safe work area through good housekeeping and communication of completed tasks.

Job description

We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Machine Tool Builder/Millwright to operate a variety of machines/tools to complete given projects & tasks. You will be expected to maintain and perform repairs to all equipment and machine systems for facilities and production. We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen eye for detail, can work independently and with a team while demonstrating and adhering to Health and Safety precautions.

A strong candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to:

Assemble, fit, align, plumb, and integrate workstations or systems that may include pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical sensing components, power transmission systems, conveyor systems and feeder systems;

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings including pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, BOMs, and detailed assembly drawings;

Ability to identify individual components (both manufactured and purchased) and use them to create sub-assemblies for work cells, stations, and other automated equipment;

Operate and inspect hand-held equipment (such as torches, oxygen lances, pneumatic/power actuated tools and hand tools);

Maintain or repair operating equipment;

Clearly communicate completed tasks

Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times to help maintain a safe work area;

Qualifications and Core Skills

Valid Certificate of Qualification for a Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, or Machine Tool Builder and Integrator, or equivalent work experience

3+ years’ experience in a custom automation environment preferred

Previous MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding experience would be an asset

Ability to read blueprints, drawings and specifications

Experience operating all general-purpose machine shop equipment

Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Work Conditions

Overtime as required

Starting wage rates/hour will follow the ranges below and will be determined based on skill and experience:

Rate $35.00 - $45.00/hr
