Job summary

JD Sweid Foods Ltd. in Langley, BC is hiring a Machine Operator to set up and run poultry processing lines, following SOPs and GMP to ensure yields and safety.

Reporting to the Skilled Lead Hand and Production Supervisor, you will help maintain equipment, record production, and support continuous flow. The role requires 1+ year in meat production, the ability to lift up to 30 kg, and hands-on problem-solving in a refrigerated environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in manufacturing or food/meat production preferred.
• High school diploma or Grade 12 equivalent preferred.
• Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to handle heavy lifting up to 30kg and stand for extended periods.
• Must possess and maintain valid hand truck certifications.
• Proven ability to understand and follow safety and work instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Assemble equipment needed for planned production and operate and adjust equipment for optimum results.
• Identify and resolve minor machine issues, maximize efficiencies, minimize downtime, efficient change-over of products and report mechanical problems promptly.
• Coordinate with further processing to ensure constant flow of meat mix
• Perform all line checks and make adjustments as per SOPs to ensure compliance with product specifications.
• Organize dry goods to ensure compliance with specifications of the customer product.
• Monitor feed hoppers, fryer and oil storage levels, ensure there is supply of dry goods on hand as per production specifications.
• Operate in an ERP system (DEACOM): using a handheld scanner to issue materials to a job, input production (finished goods) and de-issue materials from the job as needed. Maintain accurate production records.
• Other duties as directed by Skilled Lead Hands and Supervisors.

MACHINE OPERATOR

Reporting to Skilled Lead Hand and Production Supervisor of Poultry Department, Machine Operators are responsible for the efficient set up and operation of the further processing lines by ensuring machine operator duties are performed by following SOP’s, achieving yields, in a safe and efficient manner. Machine Operators will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures. Provisions will be made to cover the absence of an employee in this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work in a fast-paced, refrigerated setting, involving proximity to machinery and food ingredients.
• Work in cold, wet and slippery plant conditions for extended periods of time.
• Require flexible work schedule including mornings, afternoons and weekends.
• Require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

$22.50 to $23.50 per hour
