Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications using advanced machinery or having an advanced level of skill in the use of warehouse machinery. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Maintain or repair equipment where applicable.
- Produce parts for production line required by job type specified below.
- Complete and maintain paperwork.
- Resolve/notify production issues.
- Ensure machine is calibrated & cleaned as per 6S requirements.
- Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
- Report inaccurate bill of material & routings.
- Complete quality control spot inspections/measure and confirm part specifications to drawing.
- Identify & implement process improvements.
- Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements.
- Maintain proper logins for computer system.
- Meet labour performance requirements of job routings.
- Count parts being completed.
- Assist other shop areas if production is slow including but not limited to: Grinding, Hardware, Packaging, Assembly, Shake-out, Deburring, Cutting, Machine loading and Tapping.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Loading correct material.
- Creating and loading cutting/punching programs.
- Loading tooling as required by the cutting/punching program.
- Sharpen and maintain tools as per manufacturing requirements.
- Operate forklift.
- Maintain catalog of tooling and order replacement or new tooling as required.
- Perform general maintenance including: oil change, maintaining punches and dyes, laser lenses.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Certified steel toed shoes are required at all times.
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working with lasers and/or punch/laser combo machines, preferably Trumpf and Amada.
- 2+ years of programming experience with lasers and/or punch/laser combo machines, preferably Trumpf and Amada software.
- Understanding of cutting/punching technology and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic computer skills.
- Teamwork ability.
- Strong communication skills.
