Job summary

Jobtailor in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a manufacturing operator to plan, load, and operate cutting saws and pipe bending machines. You will perform quality checks, pack products, and maintain a clean, safe work area following 5S.

The role requires physical labor and the ability to work a 12-hour continental shift on a bi-weekly basis. Ideal candidates bring prior manufacturing experience, strong communication skills, safety awareness, and basic math ability to follow instructions and solve

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Strong communication, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Basic math, geometry, and fractions.

• Willingness to work a 12-hour continental shift, 7 days bi-weekly.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out work assignments and accomplish them with maximum efficiency.

• Pack products according to packaging specs.

Job description

• Plan and lay out work assignments and accomplish them with maximum efficiency
• Operate cutting saws
• Set up and operate automatic and manual pipe bending machines
• Control and properly sort regrind materials
• Operate strapping equipment and air nailers
• Pack products according to packaging specifications
• Perform operator quality inspection checks
• Maintain housekeeping around the area and machines, including 5’s
• Perform necessary administrative functions related to the position
• Function in other capacities as directed by the direct supervisor
• Follow plant health, safety, environmental and quality policies
• Perform other assigned tasks

Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of health and safety practices
• Basic math skills, including geometry and fractions
• Ability to solve sophisticated problems using sound problem-solving techniques and judgment
• Ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and follow instructions diligently
• Flexibility to work a 12-hour continental shift schedule, 7 days bi-weekly
• Ability to perform considerable physical labour, including lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, and walking
• Ability to work around heat, dust, noise, sharp blades, presses, and other equipment
