Job summary

Russel Metals is seeking an individual to operate overhead cranes and assist with saw-cutting tasks within a fast-paced metals distribution environment. The role requires attention to safety, accuracy in material selection, and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Applicants should have at least two years of crane operation experience, strong reading and measurement skills, and good math abilities. The position involves shift work and a commitment to team-based production goals.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of overhead crane operation experience.
• Experience with saw cutting is preferred.
• Able to read a tape measure/caliper.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre-inspection equipment reports before each shift including Saws/Cranes/Forklifts and any other equipment used.
• Perform all tasks safely and as directed.
• Comply with all workplace policies including health and safety.
• Be a team player.
• Perform all tasks in a professional, respectful manner.
• Any other tasks that may be assigned by management.
• Participate in all company directed training.
• Responsible for selecting the correct material in order to saw cut customer orders as required.
• Organize work to consistently meet established production and quality targets.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• May be required to work rotating shifts
• Ability to read, write and understand English
• Minimum two years of experience operating overhead cranes
• Previous experience with saw cutting
• Proficient in performing mathematical calculations with ability to read a tape measure/caliper
• Self motivated, results oriented
