Job summary

Fresh Prep Foods Inc. in Calgary is seeking a packaging technician to join a fast-paced production team. You will operate and maintain packaging machines, ensure correct weights, and uphold food safety standards in a climate-controlled facility.

The role involves standing for shifts, lifting up to 35 lbs, and working Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an hourly wage of 22.20 CAD. We offer comprehensive benefits after 90 days and exclusive employee food perks.

Qualifications

  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate industrial packaging machines.
  • Set up and calibrate to meet production specs.
  • Maintain weight accuracy and minimize product variation.
  • Basic Excel/Sheets for data entry and reporting.
  • Inventory management and stock control experience.
  • Knowledge of allergen segregation and GMP.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor packaging lines to meet recipe specs.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain packaging machines for safe production.
  • Ensure products are weighed accurately and recorded.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant production area.
  • Assist with end-of-shift cleanup and staging of finished goods.
  • Work in a cold area maintained at 0–4 C.

What You'll Be Doing

The main activity in this department is the packaging of the ingredients per our different recipes specifications, into their appropriate plastic packaging.

You will prepare and package food items according to weekly recipe specifications with the use and operation of specific single use packaging portioning machines

You will be required to set up and maintain the packaging machines in safe, clean and good operating condition

You will be required to work in a safe manner and to assist in maintaining a clean, healthy, food-safe production facility

This position involves frequent bending and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as part of the essential duties

The role includes end-of-shift cleanup and the proper staging of finished products

You will be working your shift in an area where the temperature is maintained between 0-4 degrees Celsius

What We Are Looking For

Operated, maintained, and calibrated industrial portioning and packaging machines in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring accurate performance, consistent output, and minimal downtime.

Experienced in machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and calibration to maintain precise product weights and meet production specifications.

Strong understanding of machine numerical settings and weight adjustment controls, enabling accurate calibration and efficient operation with minimal product variation.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for data entry, tracking, and reporting.

Strong numerical skills with experience in inventory management, stock control, and production recordkeeping.

Solid understanding of allergen segregation, food safety compliance, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Clear, articulate communicator with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Empathetic team player who practices professionalism and understanding in all interactions
