Job summary

Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for a Teacher – Long Term Occasional (LTO) for SK/Grade 1, Fridays, 0.2 FTE. Effective immediately, and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027.

Mandatory qualifications to teach in the Primary Division apply, with preferred familiarity in Ontario curriculum and digital learning tools. Candidates should demonstrate collaboration with colleagues, effective parent communication, and willingness to take on extra-curricular duties.

Qualifications

• Mandatory: Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary Division.

• Familiarity with Ontario Curriculum and Kindergarten Program is advantageous.

• Teach SK/Grade 1 on Fridays as a 0.2 FTE position.

• Participate in professional learning and support extra-curricular duties when needed.

SK/Grade 1 (Fridays)

Mandatory Requirements:

• Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary Division

Preferred Requirements:

• Sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the above division
• Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous learning and instruction with students and effective communication with parents
• Repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
• Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, the Ontario Kindergarten Program (2016) and effective strategies to teach Literacy and Numeracy
• Knowledge and experience in supporting comprehensive (structured) literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction.
• Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY, to facilitate instruction and effective communication with parents
• Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
• Commitment to being an active participant in the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement
• Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties
• Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the school environment would be an asset
• Additional qualifications in Special Education would be an asset
