Job summary

Clearpoint Health Network Inc. invites applications for an LPN to join New Westminster Surgical Centre.

This temporary 12-month contract covers pre-admission to post-operative care, with collaboration across a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient patient journeys. The successful candidate will hold current LPN registration, BLS, and ideally ACLS, with at least one year of acute care experience in pre-admission, day surgery, PACU, or post-operative nursing.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an LPN with the applicable regulatory body.
• BLS certification required; ACLS is an asset.
• Minimum one year of recent acute care nursing experience.
• Experience in Pre-Admission, Day Surgery, PACU, or Post-Operative nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-admission assessments including health history reviews and medication reconciliation.
• Coordinate required diagnostic testing and communicate findings to physicians.
• Admit and prepare patients for surgery and ensure preoperative requirements are complete.
• Provide nursing care in the post-operative recovery phase and monitor patients.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and nursing standards.
• Deliver discharge education to patients and families with medications and wound care instructions.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in care planning.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe patient care.
• Promote a safe clinical environment and participate in quality improvement efforts.

Position Summary

New Westminster Surgical Centre is seeking an LPN to provide high-quality nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey, from pre-admission assessment to post-operative recovery and discharge. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

• Position type: Temporary - 12 months contract
• Pay range: $33 to $40/hr
• Paid Time Off

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-admission assessments, including health history reviews, medication reconciliation, and patient screening.
• Coordinate required diagnostic testing and communicate significant findings to physicians.
• Admit and prepare patients for surgery, ensuring all preoperative requirements are completed.
• Monitor, assess, and provide nursing care to patients in the post-operative recovery phase.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an LPN in good standing with the applicable regulatory body.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS is an asset.
  Skills & Experience
• Minimum one year of recent acute care nursing experience.
• Previous experience in Pre-Admission, Day Surgery, PACU, or Post-Operative nursing is preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative surgical environment while delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
