Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking experienced Loss Prevention Officers to join our Sudbury, Ontario team. This hands-on role requires confidence and professionalism to safely conduct arrests when warranted, and to deter theft in a dynamic retail environment.

The position offers full-time hours with shifts typically spanning 8 hours and a pay range of CAD 28.00–30.00 per hour. GardaWorld provides opportunities for career advancement and a comprehensive benefits package where applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of loss prevention experience.
• Valid Ontario Private Investigator Licence or willingness to obtain before starting.
• Security Guard Licence and PI Licence is a strong asset.
• Strong observation, communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Sound judgment and professional decision-making.
• Physical ability to conduct arrests and respond to incidents.
• Availability for day and evening shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conduct covert surveillance of retail floors and high-risk areas.
• Identify and investigate shoplifting, fraud, theft, and organized retail crime.
• Monitor customer and employee activity to detect potential losses.
• Ensure merchandise leaving the store has been properly purchased.
• Complete loss prevention audits and inspections.
• Safely apprehend individuals involved in theft-related incidents when appropriate.
• Conduct arrests in accordance with policies and law.
• Prepare detailed incident, arrest, and investigative reports.
• Collaborate with store management and law enforcement for investigations.

Schedule

• Shifts are generally 8 hours in length
• Operating hours typically fall between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM (Mon to Sun)
• Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule, including: ( Days, Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays, as required)

Key Responsibilities

As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will:

• Conduct covert surveillance of retail sales floors and high-risk areas
• Identify and investigate shoplifting, fraud, theft, and organized retail crime
• Monitor customer and employee activity to detect potential losses
• Ensure merchandise leaving the store has been properly purchased
• Complete loss prevention audits and inspections
• Safely apprehend individuals involved in theft-related incidents when appropriate
• Conduct arrests in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
• Prepare detailed incident, arrest, and investigative reports
• Collaborate with store management and law enforcement agencies
• Preserve evidence and assist with investigations
• Testify in court when required
• Promote a safe and secure shopping environment for customers and staff

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 1 year of Loss Prevention experience
• Valid Ontario Private Investigator (PI) Licence OR willing and able to obtain one prior to starting employment
• Possessing both a Security Guard Licence and a PI Licence is considered a strong asset
• Strong observation, communication, and report-writing skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Sound judgment and professional decision-making abilities
• Physical ability to conduct arrests and respond to incidents when necessary
• Must be available to work both day and evening shifts, including weekends as required.
