Canadian Natural Resources Limited in Calgary is seeking an Albian Mine Planning Engineer to join the Long-Range Planning team. You will develop and optimize integrated mine plans, collaborating with operations, geology, and regulatory teams to maximize asset value and ensure safe, cost-effective development.

The role requires a degree in Mining/Civil/Geological Engineering, at least 3 years of open-pit mining experience, and proficiency with Vulcan, Deswik, or CAD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering and eligibility/registration with APEGA.
• 3+ years of experience in open-pit mining or oil sands operations.
• Experience with mine design software such as Vulcan, Deswik, and CAD.
• Strong understanding of fleet management, oil sands geology, mine planning, and mining economics.

Responsibilities

• Mine Planning & Optimization – Develop detailed mine plans and schedules to enable safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations at the Albian oil sands site.
• Life-of-Mine Planning, Closure & Regulatory Support – Lead life-of-mine plans and oversee pit shells, haul roads, dumps, and dyke structures.
• Mining Model Management & Performance Reporting – Maintain mining models and designs; monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Value Optimization & Engineering Standards Implementation – Optimize the integrated mine plan and implement engineering standards.
