Job summary

RONA is seeking a Distribution Center leader to oversee a 1+ million sq ft facility serving a national network. You will manage inbound receiving, product flow, order prep, and outbound shipping, with a leadership team of managers and supervisors supporting up to 220 staff.

You will develop workforce planning, drive change management, and ensure safety, operational excellence, and budget adherence across all DC activities. A best-in-class operation is the goal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in large-scale distribution or complex operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage strategic projects and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience with WMS systems (Blue Yonder preferred).
  • Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficiency and productivity in order to build a best-in-class Distribution Center.
  • Develop and execute daily and weekly operational plans that meet or exceed customer service expectations while achieving maximum operating efficiency and maximizing budget.
  • Oversee all distribution center activities, including receiving, storage, order picking, and shipping.
  • Optimize resource utilization and collaboration with regional teams and other departments (Supply Chain, Transportation, Stores).
  • Maintain clear communication with the leadership team regarding objectives, priorities, and operational updates.
  • Manage facility maintenance and improvement projects within budget and safety standards.
  • Analyze performance metrics and recommend improvements to achieve service, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to budget targets (fixed and variable costs) and take corrective actions based on financial results.
  • Develop and implement short- and long‑term staffing plans aligned with volume forecasts and productivity goals.
  • Recruit, train, and develop high‑performing management teams (managers and supervisors).
  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to maintain operational readiness.

About The Role

Reporting to the Distribution Director (Ontario and Western Canada), you will lead operations for one of our largest distribution centers, spanning over 1 million square feet. This strategic facility serves a national network and handles all aspects of operations: inbound receiving, product flow, order preparation, and outbound shipping. You will manage a significant operating budget, develop workforce planning strategies, and drive change management. You will oversee a leadership team of 3 managers, who supervise 10 supervisors, supporting a significant workforce of up to 220 employees. Your leadership will ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment.

Your Responsibilities
