Job summary

Stella-Jones is seeking a reliable Loader Operator to join our Kirkland Lake, Ontario team. You will support shipping/receiving, pole preparation, branding, and operate yard equipment throughout the pole yard.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, inspecting and branding poles, and ensuring safe daily operations under OHSA and company standards. A high school diploma and 1+ year of heavy equipment experience are required. Certifications like forklift or chainsaw are assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience operating heavy mobile equipment (wheel loader preferred).
• Valid forklift certification and/or chainsaw certification are assets.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• Basic math and load calculation ability for yard staging.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy loaders and mobile yard equipment.
• Load and unload pole trailers, kiln carts, and treating carts.
• Transport utility poles to designated staging areas across the yard.
• Inspect, prepare, and brand utility poles per specs.
• Perform pre-shift inspections and report mechanical defects.
• Verify loads, calculate weights, and complete shift/tally reports.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas around stations.
• Adhere to OHSA and internal safety standards.
• Perform other yard and operational duties as assigned.
