Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Windsor, ON is seeking a Loader Operator to manage daily loading/unloading and supervise yard activities. You will ensure safety compliance, operate mobile equipment, and coordinate with drivers and staff.

The role requires 18+ years, HS diploma or equivalent, ability to lift 50 lbs, read/write and basic math, and willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED or 1+ years of equipment operator experience.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow oral and written communication.
• Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects.
• Ability to endure physical and outdoor work daily.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work cooperatively with others and the public.
• Pre-employment background, physical and hair drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials from storage, production areas, docks, delivery vehicles, staging areas, or containers using mobile equipment or by hand.
• Sort recycled materials and metals to separate high-grade metals and remove non-conforming elements.
• Identify scrap including grade and type and any undesirable elements.
• Position trailers and containers around the yard and empty gaylord boxes as required.
• Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping.
• Assist mechanics in maintenance of equipment including plant equipment.
• Interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment.
