Job summary

Bonventure Support Services in Nanaimo is seeking a part-time live-in Community Housing Support Worker to assist adults with daily living, health, nutrition, and community participation. You will foster independence, dignity, and meaningful daily routines while working under the Program Manager with a supportive team.

Responsibilities include developing life skills, applying positive behavioral strategies, and maintaining health and safety.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Social Services or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities (preferred).
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with personal vehicle.
• First Aid with CPR, Food Safe Level 1.
• 3 reference letters (including one from your most recent employer).
• Immunization record, TB Screen, and Physician’s Declaration.

Responsibilities

• Support adults with daily living activities including health, nutrition, recreation, personal care, and community participation.
• Assist with developing life skills that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.
• Apply positive behavioral strategies and crisis intervention techniques, recognizing behavior as communication.
• Collaborate with families, community partners (MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, Behavior Consultants, etc.), and your team to provide holistic care.
• Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing are always maintained.
• Build strong, respectful relationships with the people you support, their families, and your colleagues.
