Job summary

Bayshore HealthCare in Nanaimo, BC, is seeking a part-time Community Support Worker to assist adults with developmental disabilities, ASD, or FASD in home and community settings. You will provide homemaking, personal care, meal planning, and daily living support, traveling to clients throughout Nanaimo and surrounding communities.

The role emphasizes person-centred care, dignity, independence, and community participation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in supporting adults with developmental disabilities, ASD, or FASD.
• Experience providing homemaking, housekeeping, and activities of daily living support.
• Comfortable working in diverse home environments and decluttering situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centred support to adults with developmental disabilities, ASD, and/or FASD.
• Assist with homemaking tasks: cleaning, laundry, dishes, tidying, organizing, decluttering.
• Support clients in developing housekeeping routines and independent living skills.
• Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and household management tasks.
• Aid with activities of daily living: personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, medication reminders.
• Support participation in appointments, errands, and community activities.
• Build respectful relationships that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.
• Maintain professional boundaries, follow care plans, document services, and report safety concerns.
