Job summary

Cox & Palmer in Halifax is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal/legal assistant for an in-person, full-time, permanent role. You will draft pleadings, support document production, and manage disclosure and organization.

The ideal candidate has at least five years' experience, proficiency with litigation support software such as Discovery Local or CasePoint, and excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational and communication skills, plus the ability to work independently, are

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a litigation paralegal/legal assistant.
• Experience with litigation support software (Discovery Local or CasePoint) is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong data entry skills.
• Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Civil Procedure Rules is an asset.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings for litigation files.
• Manage document production and disclosure using litigation support software.
• Data entry to objectively code documents.
• Prepare Affidavits for Disclosures, including review and redact for privilege and relevance.
• Compile Books of Evidence/Exhibits.
• Import documents from opposing counsel.
• Prepare legal chronologies.
• Record all billable and non-billable functions daily.
• Perform general office and clerical duties.
• Other duties as required.
