Job summary

A national law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant in Calgary. This full-time role involves managing daily administrative activities for lawyers, requiring strong communication, organizational skills, and a background in litigation. Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Legal Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of court processes is an asset.

  • Managing administrative duties including email and calendar management.
  • Preparing legal documents and correspondence under supervision.
  • Coordinating with Billing for monthly account production.

Job Description: Litigation Legal Assistant

Our valued client, a national law firm, is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant for a full-time role supporting their Labour + Employment practice group. The successful candidate will independently manage daily activities for their lawyers' practice, demonstrating a strong work ethic, collaboration, professionalism, and adaptability.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Managing administrative duties, including email and calendar management, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.
  • Assisting Legal Assistants and Paralegals in the Litigation department with administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining a bring-forward system and providing reminders.
  • Preparing legal documents and correspondence under supervision, including drafting, revising, and document comparison.
  • Transcribing digital dictation.
  • Entering time dockets.
  • Coordinating with Billing for monthly account production.
  • Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic files.
  • Delegating and coordinating tasks with administrative departments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by lawyers or management.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Completion of an accredited Legal Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of court processes, including higher courts like Federal and Court of Appeal (asset).
  • Understanding of legal and business terminology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, iManage DMS, Adobe Pro, etc.
