Overview
Our client, a highly regarded law firm located in downtown Toronto, is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their growing team.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, formatting, and proofreading a wide variety of legal documents, including statements of claim and defence, motion records, affidavits, and correspondence.
- Managing calendars, tracking court deadlines, and coordinating schedules for hearings, mediations, discoveries, and client meetings.
- Filing and serving court documents in compliance with Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and court practices.
- Maintaining and organizing electronic and paper litigation files, including managing large volumes of documents.
- Liaising with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Assisting with trial and hearing preparation, including assembling briefs, exhibits, and document books.
- Performing administrative tasks such as docketing, expense processing, and general office support as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Civil Litigation, ideally in a law firm setting.
- Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario court procedures, forms, and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- A competitive salary commensurate with experience.
