Job summary

Nanoose First Nation in Canada is seeking a Literacy/Numeracy Support and PE/Options Teacher to deliver foundational reading and writing instruction and PE across grades. The role collaborates with families and school teams to monitor progress and implement evidence-based practices aligned with Indigenous perspectives.

The position is a term appointment from August 31, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with potential extension based on integration of school goals and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education is required.
• An emphasis on Elementary Education is preferred.
• Teacher Regulation Branch Certification is required.
• Minimum of 1 year teaching experience.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is valued.
• Strength Based and Trauma-Informed Practices training completed.
• Ability to use a SMART board and related technologies.
• Proficiency with Windows applications (Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Deliver BC curriculum and PE curriculum across grades.
• Plan, prepare, and provide instruction per BC standards.
• Apply Indigenous ways of knowing to the curriculum.
• Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and assess progress.
• Maintain attendance and support diverse learners.
• Collaborate with families and staff; protect confidentiality.
