Mundo Peetabeck Education Authority seeks an Elementary Physical & Health Education Teacher to deliver the Ontario curriculum, focusing on physical literacy, healthy living, and collaborative learning within a Cree community setting.
Ideal candidate will hold an OCT certificate, bring knowledge of First Nations culture, and be able to work independently or with a team while promoting traditional activities and land-based learning.
Fort Albany First Nation is Cree Nation community along the west coast of James Bay. With a population of approximately 1,200 people within the community itself, Fort Albany First Nation serves around 5,000 band members that it shares with Kashechewan First Nation.

POSITION: Elementary Physical & Health Education Teacher
Job Types: Full-time
As our ideal candidate for this role, you will have knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and be able to integrate First Nations cultural knowledge, land-based learning, and traditional physical activities/games into the Physical Education curriculum. In addition, you will have excellent computer literacy skills, along with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Experience as an Elementary Physical Education Teacher or leading school sports and wellness programs is a strong asset.
You will need to be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing, demonstrate a strong professional work ethic, and possess excellent interpersonal skills and classroom/gymnasium management abilities. Knowledge of First Nations culture and experience working with First Nations students is an asset.
